A Field Trip involves the following:

  • Camp Flintlock comes to your school or you come to our campsite.

  • We set up the evening before the event.

  • During carpool, or upon your arrival to our campsite, we play fife and drum music.

  • Camp Flintlock Staff briefly trains Parent Volunteers to assist with one activity each.

  • Your group is welcomed and given a brief introduction.

  • Each class, or group of 25 students (or less), participates in a minimum of five different activities which last 30 minutes each.

  • More than five activities may or may not incur additional charges depending upon the total number of participants.

  • Classes/groups shift to the next activity when we play "Yankee Doodle" on the fife and drum.

  • Teachers stay with their class while at least 2 adult volunteers stay at each station.

  • Lunch break is scheduled to your convenience.

  • After the classes/groups have visited all of the stations there is a brief closing activity that includes a "pop quiz" complete with prizes.

  • Goodbyes are said & the field trip ends.

Additional Stations to Choose From:

  • Beeswax Candle Making: One of the most popular activities with students & teachers. Students are given a wick and create a candle using the dip method.

  • Block Printmaking: Create pictures like they did in the 1700's. Use a hand-carved block of wood and ink to print images on paper.

  • Bracelet Making: Learn to tie the Monkey Chain and make a braclet to wear or give to a friend.

  • Cord Making: Make a braided cord with 7 strands of string. A simple activity that will captivate the most restless students.
