Four Oaks Day Camp At our Four Oaks Day Camp, boys & girls can participate in a 5 day session held at the Four Oaks Day Camp, help in Four Oaks, NC. Behavior Expectaions & Discipline Policy: It is important
that the Camp Flintlock staff maintain good order and discipline. Top
objectives are safety and a positive atmosphere for learning. The expectations
listed below enable participants in the program to have a safe, enjoyable
experience. A
campers behavior is expected to be consistent with the following: 1.
Use appropriate language at all times. 2.
Cooperate with staff and follow directions. 3.
Respect equipment, facilities, other campers, staff, & their self. 4.
Maintain a positive attitude. 5.
Stay in program areas - running away is not acceptable. Camp
Flintlock does not condone and will not permit: 1.
Corporal punishment. 2.
Ridiculing, threatening or using an inappropriately loud voice. 3.
Leaving children unsupervised 4.
Use of profanity Discipline Policy 1.
If
a camper is unable to comply with the behavior expectations then they will be
redirected. The guardian(s) may be notified. 2.
If,
after being redirected, a camper continues to misbehave then they will be put
in time out. The guardian(s) will be notified. 3.
If
a camper still continues to misbehave then a conference will be held by the
director or assistant director with the camper and the guardian(s). 4.
Failure
of the guardian(s) to attend conference & cooperate will subject the camper
to dismissal. 5.
If,
after conference, the campers behavior continues to be disruptive and/or
unsafe, the camper may be dismissed. 6.
Behaviors that may result in immediate
dismissal include but are not limited to: - Any action that could threaten or pose a direct
threat to the physical/emotional safety of the camper, other campers or staff. - Fighting and/or Biting. - Vandalism or destruction of JLMH property or
property of others. - Sexual misconduct. - Possession of or use of alcohol or controlled
substances unless under the prescription of a doctor. Prior to Arrival: On Monday: - Read
& discuss the expectations of behavior (see separate document) with your
camper. - Mark all personal
belongings with your campers name. C.F. will not be responsible for any lost or
damaged belongings. - Be sure that all paperwork and payments are in order. - Plan to enjoy your time
apart from your camper! Every Day: - Have your camper wear plain shoes or sandals of some kind. - Do not wear flipflops, crocs, or sneakers. - Do not wear clothes with a camo print. - Do not wear shorts. - Pack a suitable
lunch, except for Friday. On that day Camp Flintlock (C.F.) will provide a
Colonial meal for the campers. C.F. will also provide snacks & drink each
day. - If your camper needs
to bring a prescription medication then be sure to pack it in the original
container. - Pack sunscreen lotion
(if necessary). - Pack spending money
for the C.F. store (optional). Campers may bring cash to spend in the store
during camp hours and/or they may go shopping with their families after they
are checked out. A running receipt of all their purchases will be kept during
their stay. - If your camper plays
the fife, drum, violin, viola, tin whistle, jaw harp or bagpipes then we
strongly encourage them to bring their instruments. C.F. can ensure a safe place
for them & music is another highlight. If they do not have their own drumsticks,
fife, tin whistle or jaw harp & they are interested in learning how to play
then they may purchase professional or student quality ones from the C.F.
store. - Beginning Tuesday, have your camper wear one of the sets of clothing
they will be loaned. - Also, beginning Tuesday, have your camper bring the kerchief and
haversack (bag) which they will be issued. Check-in: Check-in/Drop
Off is on Monday at 9:00 a.m.: Every day drop off is at 9:00 a.m. Upon
arrival to the campsite, add your campers name to the check-in clipboard. One of the C.F. employees will be greeting
families with it. Campers will be checked-in on a first-come, first serve
basis. C.F. does not encourage anyone to arrive any earlier than 8:45 a.m. If this
scheduled time proves to be a hardship for your family then please contact C.F.
prior to that day & C.F. can try to accommodate your wishes. During Mondays
Check-in: Campers are loaned two sets
of Colonial-American clothing for the week. Campers change into one of
the sets of clothing. Campers are given a colored
kerchief/bandana to wear & keep. It corresponds with the team they have
been assigned to. A number is assigned to each
camper & a haversack (bag) containing a tin cup is provided. Both items will have the
corresponding number on them. Note: Campers may be charged for excessive damage
to clothing & equipment. Guardians discuss the
following during check-in: Emergency contact information. Medications & health concerns (if
any). Authorization for your
camper to purchase/not purchase knives or
tomahawks from the camp store. Optional purchase
of a C.F. Photo Package. This is
a set of approximately 10 photos which will be mailed out on or before September 1st
& costs $25. After
Check-in/Drop off: Parents
depart. Campers are
given a brief orientation & activities begin. Checkout: Every Day Checkout/Pick-up
Time is 3:00 p.m.: Please
leave extra time to accommodate Fridays more involved schedule. Upon arrival
to campsite, add your campers name to the checkout/pick up clipboard. One of the
C.F. employees will be greeting families with it. C.F. does not encourage
anyone to arrive any earlier than 2:45 p.m. for checkout/pick-up. If this time
proves to be a hardship for your family then please contact C.F. prior to that
day & C.F. can try to accommodate your wishes. Campers will be checked out
on a first-come, first serve basis. After being checked out, campers and their
families are welcome to visit the historic site & the camp store. Fridays
Checkout/Pick up: Guardians will receive a brief account of their campers stay at C.F. (with an emphasis on
character). Medication (if any)
will be returned. All monies
will be settled (store, photo package, damages, etc., etc.). Campers return all C.F.
equipment & clothing, with the
exception of kerchiefs (these they may keep). Illness/Injury: Prompt attention will be given to a camper who is ill or seriously injured & the C.F. staff will call the emergency contacts that are provided. Medicine: Over-the-counter & prescription medications, brought by campers, will be dispensed by the C. F. staff. C.F. has a registered pharmacist on staff. First aid supplies will be provided by C.F. Telephone/Email Accessibility: Campers are not accessible by phone except in the case of an emergency. Nor is the Camp Flintlock telephone number & email address to be used to check on the status of a camper; we are not able to reply to that kind of inquiry. Camp Store: There is no food or postage stamps for sale. However, there are over 100 reproduction items (colonial period). Several of these items cost just $1 (ie: feathers, toy metal soldiers, & paper fans). A few items cost upwards of $100 (a sword for example) & the rest are in a price range that falls in between. Contraband: Campers are not permitted, under any circumstances, to bring: Firearms; Fireworks; Alcohol; Non-prescribed drugs; Tobacco products of any kind; Any & all electronic items (ie: electronic games, radios, iPods, video cameras, cell phones, etc.) with the exception of cameras.
